About M7tawa Editorial Credits
From the official readme · v1.4.0Description
M7tawa Editorial Credits is a focused content-credit system for WordPress. It is built for sites that need to show who contributed to a piece of content and what each person actually did.
Unlike a traditional multi-author plugin, the plugin treats editorial credits as structured content roles. A single article can credit a writer, reviewer, translator, photographer, fact-checker, editor, researcher, or any custom role you create.
What makes it different?
- Content Credits first: credits are not limited to co-authors.
- Flexible roles: create and customize writing, review, translation, photography, research, technical review, and other roles.
- Reusable Credit Profiles: create contributor profiles without creating WordPress users or login accounts.
- Persistent contributor photos: upload a profile image once and reuse it across every credited article until an administrator changes it.
- Search-friendly HTML: the visible credit box is rendered server-side as part of the article HTML, not injected through an iframe or a remote service.
- Structured data support: map credit types to author, editor, or contributor relationships.
- SEO plugin compatibility: extend supported Yoast SEO and Rank Math Article schema through public filters instead of outputting a second full Article entity.
- Classic and Block Editor support: credits are assigned through the standard WordPress post meta box interface.
- WordPress user credits: assign an existing site user directly without creating a duplicate Credit Profile.
- Optional custom credit data for WordPress users: use an Editorial Credits-specific display name, image, bio, and Contributor page without changing the WordPress account itself.
- Per-article ordering: drag credits or move them up and down to control front-end priority.
- Preview-aware autosaves: the article preview can use the latest autosaved credit assignments before the post is manually saved.
- Lightweight and local: no external account, telemetry, remote database, or third-party service is required.
Included credit types
The first release includes ready-to-use roles such as Written by, Co-written by, Edited by, Reviewed by, Fact-checked by, Translated by, Photographed by, Illustrated by, Designed by, Research by, and Technical review by. Administrators can add their own credit types.
Credit Profiles
Credit Profiles are reusable contributor records stored inside WordPress. They do not create WordPress users and cannot log in to the site. Each profile can contain a name, photo, short bio, profile or website URL, social links, and a default credit role.
Front-end display
The plugin can display Editorial Credits before or after the article automatically, or only where the [m7tawa_editorial_credits] shortcode is placed.
The output uses semantic HTML and remains readable in the page source for search engines, accessibility tools, and systems that process article content.

Frequently asked questions
Does a Credit Profile create a WordPress user?
No. Credit Profiles are standalone contributor records and do not create login accounts.
Can one person have different roles on different articles?
Yes. The same Credit Profile can be credited as a writer on one article, a reviewer on another, and a translator on a third.
Can I create custom credit roles?
Yes. Administrators can create new credit types and choose the label, slug, description, color, display order, and schema relationship.
Does the credit box rely on JavaScript for search engines to see it?
No. The front-end credit box is rendered server-side in the article HTML.
Does it work with Yoast SEO or Rank Math?
The plugin uses the public schema filters provided by Yoast SEO and Rank Math to add supported editorial relationships to their Article data. It avoids outputting another complete Article entity when either integration is active.
