About BulCommerce

From the official readme · v1.5.7

Description

  • Invoices, credit notes, proforma invoices, non-fiscal sales documents and order confirmations.
  • Gap-free sequential 10-digit numbering, safe under concurrent orders.
  • VAT breakdown by rate (20%, 9%, 0%), for both VAT-inclusive pricing and WooCommerce’s own tax engine. Document totals always equal what the customer was charged; if they cannot, the document is not issued and you are alerted.
  • Automatic credit notes for refunds and cancellations. When a refund cannot be attributed to a single VAT rate, no document is guessed: you get an alert and choose the rate yourself.
  • Company details at checkout (classic and block checkout): company name, EIK with check-digit validation, VAT number verified with EU VIES, MOL and registered address.
  • Couriers: Econt, Speedy, Pigeon Express and BOX NOW. Delivery to office, parcel locker or address on the classic and the block checkout: locality search, office list and map, address in parts with the courier’s streets, price table or the courier’s live price with automatic fallback (capped at a maximum the buyer pays, if you set one), cash on delivery, waybills (create, change, print, cancel), tracking and optional completion on delivery.
  • Checkout: compact layout without the address fields for a courier delivery, delivery options as cards, tiles, rows with courier logos or one row per courier, side cart, minimum order with a progress bar, cash on delivery hidden per courier, selling to other countries.
  • A shipment-tracking page and a right-of-withdrawal page of your own ([bulcommerce_tracking] and [bulcommerce_withdrawal]) — a buyer finds their order by its number and e-mail, no account needed, for either one.
  • An admin warning as your EU cross-border sales approach the €10,000 OSS VAT threshold.
  • Fiscal receipts on a fiscal device through ErpNet.FP, the NRA audit file (Ordinance N-18), Microinvest export, a document archive and the accountant’s monthly e-mail.
  • Cash on delivery: payout report, the month’s deliveries at the shop’s expense and an optional risk check (НепоСтоп).
  • Card payments through Stripe (optional): the Payment Element with cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and local methods, 3-D Secure, saved cards, refunds from the order screen and a signed webhook. Works on the classic and the block checkout.

Fonts

PDF documents use the Inter typeface by The Inter Project Authors (https://github.com/rsms/inter), licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. A Latin, Cyrillic and Greek subset is bundled in assets/fonts/ together with the licence (OFL.txt); tools/build-font.php rebuilds it.

External services

The plugin works without any external service until you switch one on. What follows is every service it can contact, what it sends and when.

Econt Express (courier)

Used when you enable Econt: to load its localities and offices, to ask for a delivery price at the checkout, to create, cancel and track a waybill and to download the label. Requests go to https://ee.econt.com/services (or https://demo.econt.com/ee/services with the demo account) with the credentials you enter.

Sent when you use those features: your sender details, the recipient’s name, phone and e-mail, the chosen office or address, the parcel’s weight, count and description, the cash-on-delivery amount and the order number. Nothing is sent for orders delivered by another method.

Service by “Econt Express” OOD: https://www.econt.com/ — terms: https://www.econt.com/za-nas/obshti-uslovia — privacy: https://www.econt.com/politika-za-poveritelnost

Speedy (courier)

Used when you enable Speedy, for the same purposes and with the same kind of data as above. Requests go to https://api.speedy.bg/v1 with the credentials you enter.

Service by “Speedy” AD: https://www.speedy.bg/ — terms: https://www.speedy.bg/bg/terms-and-conditions — privacy: https://www.speedy.bg/bg/gdpr

Pigeon Express (courier)

Used when you enable Pigeon Express, for the same purposes and with the same kind of data as above. Requests go to the API address of the account you enter (its sandbox or its production address).

Service by “Pigeon Express”: https://pigeonexpress.com/ — terms: https://pigeonexpress.com/terms — privacy: https://pigeonexpress.com/privacy

VIES (VAT number check, European Commission)

Used when a buyer asks for a company invoice and VAT checking is on (it can be switched off in the settings, and then only the format is checked). The VAT number and its country code are sent to https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/rest-api/check-vat-number, which answers whether the number is registered and, when the country publishes them, the company name and address.

Service by the European Commission: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/ — legal notice: https://ec.europa.eu/info/legal-notice_en — privacy: https://commission.europa.eu/privacy-policy-websites-managed-european-commission_en

European Central Bank (exchange rates)

Used when “Invoices for orders in another currency” is on: the euro reference rates are downloaded from https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-hist-90d.xml (and the full file when an older rate is needed) to convert an order into euro. No data about your shop, your orders or your buyers is sent.

Service by the European Central Bank: https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/policy_and_exchange_rates/euro_reference_exchange_rates/html/index.en.html — disclaimer and copyright: https://www.ecb.europa.eu/services/disclaimer/html/index.en.html — data protection: https://www.ecb.europa.eu/services/data-protection/html/index.en.html

НепоСтоп (cash-on-delivery risk check, optional add-on)

Off by default. It works only after you switch the add-on on and enter your own API key. Before a cash-on-delivery order the buyer’s phone number is sent to https://nepostop.com/api/v1 to ask how many of that phone’s parcels were not collected. If you also switch on reporting, the phone number and the waybill number of your cash-on-delivery shipments are sent after they are created, so their outcome adds to the shared history. Tell your buyers about this check in your privacy policy.

Service by НепоСтоп: https://nepostop.com/ — terms: https://nepostop.com/terms — privacy: https://nepostop.com/gdpr

BulCommerce Guard (shared cash-on-delivery risk network, optional add-on, beta)

Off by default. It works only after you switch the “BulCommerce Guard” add-on on. Before a cash-on-delivery order the buyer’s phone number is sent to https://wpsupporting.com/api/wp to ask how many of that phone’s parcels were not collected; the phone is hashed on the server. If auto-reporting is on, the phone, the waybill number and the outcome (delivered / returned) of your cash-on-delivery shipments are sent after they are final, so the shared history stays useful, together with your licence key and your site’s domain to identify the shop. The order screen can also report a customer or erase them from the network on request. Tell your buyers about this check in your privacy policy.

Service by wpsupporting (the makers of BulCommerce): https://wpsupporting.com/

euShipments, BOX NOW and Sameday

Three more couriers, used in the same way and with the same kind of data as the couriers above, each only after you switch it on and enter your account: euShipments (https://eushipments.com/ — https://api1.inout.bg/api/v1, tests https://test-api.inout.bg/api/v1), BOX NOW (https://boxnow.bg/ — the public locker list at https://locationapi-production.boxnow.bg (tests https://locationapi-stage.boxnow.bg) and the Partner API at https://api-production.boxnow.bg, tests https://api-stage.boxnow.bg) and Sameday (https://sameday.bg/ — https://api.sameday.bg, tests https://sameday-api-bg.demo.zitec.com).

This package contains no licence check and no update server of its own.

Stripe (card payments, optional)

Off by default. It works only after you enable the Stripe payment method and enter your own Stripe API keys. When a buyer pays by card, their browser loads Stripe.js from https://js.stripe.com and the payment is created and confirmed through https://api.stripe.com with your secret key. Sent to Stripe for a payment: the amount and currency, the order number and key, the buyer’s e-mail (for the receipt) and the card details the buyer enters (the card data goes from the browser straight to Stripe — it never reaches your site). Stripe notifies your site of the payment’s outcome through a signed webhook. Card and payment processing is subject to Stripe’s terms.

Service by Stripe: https://stripe.com/ — terms: https://stripe.com/legal — privacy: https://stripe.com/privacy

OpenStreetMap (map tiles, optional)

Off by default. When you choose to show a courier’s offices on a map, the buyer’s browser loads the map images from https://tile.openstreetmap.org when the map is shown, which sends the buyer’s IP address and browser details to OpenStreetMap. Nothing about the order or the buyer is sent.

Service by the OpenStreetMap Foundation: https://www.openstreetmap.org/ — tile usage policy: https://operations.osmfoundation.org/policies/tiles/ — privacy: https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy

Fiscal printer through ErpNet.FP (optional, local)

Off by default. When it is on, the plugin talks to the ErpNet.FP service at the address you enter, which is normally a computer in your own shop (for example http://localhost:8001). The sale’s items, amounts and payment type are sent so the device can print the receipt. This is your own local network, not a service of ours. ErpNet.FP is free software: https://github.com/erpnet/ErpNet.FP

The plugin makes no other external requests, and it collects no telemetry and no usage data.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I get help?

BulCommerce is made by wpsupporting. Product page: https://wpsupporting.com/store/bulcommerce — support: https://wpsupporting.com/contact or info@wpsupporting.com (support policy: https://wpsupporting.com/support-policy). Attach the diagnostic report from BulCommerce → Help.

Is the “sales document” a fiscal receipt?

No. A fiscal receipt must come from a registered fiscal device. The sales document is informational.

What happens to documents when I uninstall?

Deleting the plugin keeps your setup by default (company details, courier credentials, add-on settings and the delivery methods with their prices), so an accidental delete costs you nothing; caches and scheduled jobs are cleared. Issued invoices, credit notes and their numbering always stay — they are accounting records you must keep. If you want a completely clean removal, switch on “Also delete all settings when the plugin is deleted” in Settings first.

My site is behind Cloudflare or another CDN and the plugin’s logos/styles are blocked as “mixed content”.

This happens when the CDN terminates HTTPS and WordPress does not detect it, so it builds asset URLs as http:// on an https:// site. The plugin’s own assets follow the site address you set in Settings → General, so they are served over https as soon as that address is https. For everything else on the site (uploaded images, other plugins), tell WordPress it is behind an https proxy by adding this near the top of wp-config.php: if ( isset( $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_PROTO'] ) && 'https' === $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_PROTO'] ) { $_SERVER['HTTPS'] = 'on'; }

Changelog

The compact checkout no longer flashes the address fields before hiding them.

1.5.7

  • New: a “Shipment tracking” page ([bulcommerce_tracking]) where a buyer can see where their parcel is — from the tracking link, or by looking the order up with the order number and e-mail when the link was lost. Lookups are rate-limited per visitor and per order, read the order number through WooCommerce’s own order-tracking filter (so custom order numbers work), and refuse binned or abandoned orders; the order e-mails and account page link to the shop’s own tracking page when one exists.
  • New: a “right of withdrawal” page ([bulcommerce_withdrawal]) where a buyer withdraws from an order within the legal period — found the same guest-friendly way, by order number and e-mail, confirmed on a second, separate step. The period and which order statuses count as “delivered” are set in Add-ons; a request is recorded as a note and a timestamp on the order, with an e-mail to the buyer and to you.
  • New: a “by courier” delivery template for the checkout — one row per courier, opened on click to show that courier’s own delivery types — alongside the existing templates in Checkout → Templates.
  • New: an admin warning as the shop’s EU cross-border (distance) sales approach the €10,000 OSS VAT threshold, so it is seen before the threshold is crossed, not after.
  • Add-ons: three BulCommerce Pro features (a designed custom checkout, invoicing in an external system, advanced document access) now show on the Add-ons screen with a short description and a link to learn more, instead of not appearing at all.
  • Courier settings: packagings are now edited as a real table, with add/remove rows, instead of one text area; a stepped “delivery setup” wizard (launched from the save bar) and a plain-language “who pays the delivery” helper walk through the essentials.
  • Checkout: a delivery option can now show a line of its own under its name (a single pickup point shows its address and hours automatically) with a “View on the map” link, instead of a courier’s own setting being unable to override a shared default.
  • BOX NOW: the parcel-locker terminology is “клетка” (compartment) throughout; its expected delivery time is now shown (its locker list is refreshed daily instead of weekly); the compartment booked now follows the parcel’s own size instead of always booking “medium”; a locker that cannot currently take parcels is no longer offered at checkout, and its opening hours and how to find it are shown in the picker.
  • Fix: Speedy’s locality and office list was parsed by splitting the CSV on line breaks, which also split mid-character on lowercase Cyrillic “х” — breaking towns such as “Елхово” while “Хасково” happened to survive. The list now parses correctly for every locality.
  • Fix: several real checkout-delivery bugs — “Pickup from the shop” and the shop’s own delivery could not be ordered at all under some conditions; the “nothing can be paid at a parcel locker” notice could stay on screen after switching to a courier office; pickup could appear among the active couriers while saying it was disabled.
  • Admin: “Issue documents” is now one switch for the whole invoicing feature — off, nothing is issued by any path — the document-numbering warning no longer nags a shop that issues no documents, and a shortcode field now copies itself when clicked.

1.5.6

  • New: cap a courier’s live price at a maximum the buyer pays (“Maximum the buyer pays”) — the shop covers the difference while the courier is still paid its real price on the waybill.
  • New: price tables are now edited as a real table, with add/remove rows, instead of one text area.
  • New: an Econt cash-on-delivery agreement can now be required to be a genuine postal money transfer (ППП) before a waybill is created, so the courier can no longer reject the collected amount; shown per agreement in the settings.
  • New: a “minimum order” feature — a progress bar showing how far the cart is from the shop’s minimum order amount, with a message and a bar colour the shop can set its own.
  • New: “Expected delivery date” is now its own add-on with separate on/off control for each place it shows (order-received page, account, e-mail, admin).
  • Admin: Import/Export moved from Add-ons to Help, where a maintenance tool belongs; the Add-ons page is regrouped so the checkout-look cards sit together; the EU VAT regime option moved to the “Invoices and documents” tab.
  • The beta Sameday integration has been removed and the beta euShipments (cross-border) integration has moved to the paid edition; BOX NOW, Econt, Speedy and Pigeon Express remain in the free edition.
  • Fix: a proforma invoice is no longer issued just by opening a link — a crawler, a mail prefetcher or a scanner following the link in an e-mail could trigger one; requesting it now needs a signed, POST-only action.
  • Fix: the locality look-up no longer caches an empty result, so a passing network hiccup no longer locks a town out of the picker for an hour.
  • Fix: a courier that refuses its credentials now shows a clear red “Not connected” status, and picking a courier profile fills the sender company, phone and authorised person at once.
  • Deleting the plugin no longer discards the shop’s setup: settings, courier credentials and delivery methods are kept by default now, with an explicit opt-in to wipe everything.
  • Fix: behind a reverse proxy or CDN that terminates HTTPS, the plugin’s own CSS/JS/logos could be built as http:// and get blocked as mixed content; they are now built from the site’s own configured scheme.
  • Fix: when the buyer pays the courier on delivery, the fee now shows on one summary line instead of two that could disagree.

1.5.4

  • New (beta): card payments through Stripe. A payment gateway with the Stripe Payment Element — cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and the local methods Stripe offers for your currency, with 3-D Secure handled automatically, on both the classic and the block checkout. Logged-in customers can save a card (kept at Stripe, never on your site); refunds are made from the order screen; a signed webhook confirms every payment. It is an add-on with its own page: BulCommerce → Add-ons → Card payments (Stripe). This feature is in beta — test it with Stripe test keys before taking real payments, and please report anything that looks off.
  • The customer’s status now shows inside the “Delivery” column of the orders list (orders count, uncollected parcels, shared-network warning and your note), instead of a separate “Customer status” column.
  • Fix: on the classic (shortcode) checkout the courier logo (and the office/address picker) no longer disappears from a delivery option after the checkout refreshes its totals — the shipping label is now rebuilt on WooCommerce’s order-review AJAX too.
  • Fix: the company lookup by EIK (VAT register / VIES auto-fill) no longer returns 403 for logged-out buyers. The lookup no longer requires a session-tied nonce (which was unreliable for guests behind a CDN or in incognito); it stays a public, rate-limited read of public VIES data.
  • Paid edition: a custom, two-column checkout placed with the [bulcommerce_checkout] shortcode — WooCommerce’s own checkout (every payment and shipping method, field and validation) in a modern layout with a sticky order summary. Put it on your checkout page.
  • Fix (Stripe): a logged-in customer’s saved cards and the “save this card” option no longer disappear from the classic checkout after it refreshes its totals (a changed address or shipping method) — they were hidden by the same order-review AJAX quirk as the courier logo.
  • Fix (Stripe): if the order total grows after the card is authorised (a coupon dropped, or shipping/a fee added on the last step), the order is now placed on hold for review instead of being marked fully paid when only the smaller authorised amount could be captured — so the full amount is always collected before fulfilment.
  • Fix (Stripe): re-submitting the checkout with a different card releases the earlier authorisation instead of leaving a second hold on the buyer’s funds; a returning customer’s Stripe customer record is no longer duplicated by a double submit; and a captured payment is still matched to its order even if binding its id at Stripe momentarily fails.
  • Fix: several operations that could fail silently now report it — the monthly accountant archive warns (instead of adding an empty file) when a PDF cannot be written, switching a shipping method on or off reports a failure instead of a false success, and an invalid stored VAT rate is logged instead of quietly falling back to the standard rate.

1.5.3

  • The “≈” (approximate) mark before a courier fee the buyer pays on delivery is now shown only when the fee is an estimate from the price table. A price the courier gives itself is exact, so it is shown plainly, without the “≈”. (You can still turn the mark off entirely in the checkout design.)
  • Courier delivery with live courier pricing and an empty price table: the method is now offered on a compact checkout too. It shows a “calculated later” price until the destination is known instead of disappearing, so buyers who cannot pick an office or address before choosing a delivery are no longer left with no delivery option.
  • BulCommerce Guard: a “Test the key” button by the licence key checks it against the network and shows the result — green when the key works, red when the network rejects it (with the reason), amber when the network cannot be reached.
  • Settings tidy-up: the customer’s company-invoice rules (require MOL, require a VAT number, hide WooCommerce’s company field) and the VIES VAT-number check moved from Checkout to “Invoices and documents”, where they belong, under a clearly named “Customer’s company invoice”. A pointer at the checkout settings links to them. Nothing changes in behaviour; only where the options live.

1.5.2

  • Compact checkout: the address fields are now hidden before the page is drawn, so they are never shown for a moment and then removed (no more flicker on the classic and block checkout).
  • Order screen: when you edit a courier shipping line the shop bills, the shown “Courier fee” now follows the shipping total you set, so the two never disagree.
  • Checkout: an optional note under the delivery options tells the buyer the price can change with the payment method (cash on delivery adds the courier’s fee). Its wording and on/off switch are in Checkout design → Texts.
  • Courier delivery methods now lead with the courier’s own live price; the price table is optional (a fallback, or for fixed prices). New methods have the live price on; existing methods keep their current setting.
  • Delivery time is now edited in one place — Checkout design → Texts — instead of also on each shipping method, where it duplicated it. Times already set on a method still show until you change them here.
  • Each courier now has a short “Setup wizard” in its header: it walks through the essentials in order — API access, the sender, who pays and adding the methods to the “Bulgaria” zone — then points to the full settings for the rest.
  • New tool “Import / Export” (Add-ons): move the whole configuration to another site as a JSON file — settings, courier credentials and options, cash on delivery and the delivery methods in the shipping zones. Credentials are included only when you ask.
  • New add-on “BulCommerce Guard” (beta): flags risky cash-on-delivery customers against a shared risk network. Off by default; see Add-ons. It can hide cash on delivery for a flagged customer (not only warn), and the orders list can show, per order, how many orders the customer has in your shop, how many parcels they did not collect, the network warning and a private note you keep about the customer.
  • Econt: a third “Courier fee paid by” option — “the receiver, but only your fixed price”. The buyer pays exactly the delivery price you set, the courier collects it from them and bills you the difference from its real tariff, so the price the buyer sees never changes.

1.5.1

  • Translations: the plugin now ships a Bulgarian .po and a .pot template, so shops can change any wording with Loco Translate (a custom translation in wp-content/languages wins over the plugin’s own). A compiled .mo is included too, so WordPress before 6.5 also shows the Bulgarian.
  • Delivery design: the “≈” before a courier fee paid on delivery can be switched off (Checkout design → More), so prices are shown plainly.
  • Add-on “Checkout form”: the checkout fields are yours to order, rename, show or hide, and to ask for or leave optional — for billing and for delivery, in BulCommerce → Add-ons. Drag a row to move it, the eye hides it, the star asks for it. Switched off, WooCommerce’s own fields are back, untouched. On the block checkout WooCommerce describes both addresses with the same fields, so there a field is hidden only when it is hidden for both and asked for only when both ask for it; the country and the e-mail stay as they are.
  • Side cart: a promo code field in the panel (the discount shows at once) and a product on offer above the total — the newest product on sale or one you choose, hidden once it is in the cart.
  • Add-on “Side cart only”: the cart opens in a panel and its button leads to your own checkout page (the checkout itself is untouched). Its side, colours, corners, floating button, every text and the products offered under the cart (cross-sells of what is in the cart, or products from the same categories) are set in BulCommerce → Add-ons; a buyer adds an offered product in one click.
  • Setup wizard: it opens by itself the first time BulCommerce is switched on, so setup can start at once (couriers, delivery, API access and the look of the checkout); it stays reachable from the menu.
  • Add-ons “Microinvest export” and “NRA audit file (Ordinance Н-18)”: each has its own on/off switch now, like the other add-ons.
  • Admin look: the buttons and section markers are drawn as clean icons; the top bar has a “Questions” link to the BulCommerce community group, and the checkout-template preview shows the real delivery layout.
  • Support e-mail: info@wpsupporting.com.
