About Birthday Rewards for WooCommerce
From the official readme · v1.3.3Description
Stop losing customers on their special day. 🎂
Automated emails — sent because something actually happened, rather than blasted to your whole list — earn far more per send than a scheduled newsletter. Measuring 2025 across 27,000+ brands, Omnisend found automated messages earned $3.41 per email sent against $0.155 for a scheduled campaign, and converted at 1.49% against 0.08%. Birthday messages had the lowest unsubscribe rate of any automation type, at 0.22%.
A birthday is the one date every customer has, and one of the few they will gladly tell you.
NeoLite Birthday Bash is the architect-grade solution for store owners who value speed. While other automation suites are heavy and complex, NeoLite is built to be a Micro-Satellite: lightweight, standalone, and incredibly fast.
🚀 100% Standalone: No Dependencies Required.
Unlike other birthday tools that require heavy automation suites or complex parent plugins, NeoLite Birthday Bash is a self-contained extension. The only thing you need is WooCommerce.
NeoLite Birthday Bash is built for the “Performance Purist.” We’ve replaced bloated automation workflows with a “Zero-Bloat” architecture that underpins your store’s speed while maximizing customer retention.
✨ Key Features:
* Automated Conversion: Automatically send unique coupons 7 days before the event to drive early “Hype” traffic.
* Flexible Data Collection: Collect birth dates on the My Account page, the WordPress registration form and the classic checkout. For the block-based Cart & Checkout, place the [birthday_bash_checkout_input] shortcode where you want the fields; [birthday_bash_form] puts the form anywhere else on your site.
* Architect-Grade Performance: Implemented with object caching and optimized database queries to ensure zero lag on your store.
* Can’t-Resist Coupons: Configure fixed or percentage discounts with automatic expiry to create a psychological “Use it or Lose it” trigger. Every coupon is unique, restricted to the recipient’s own email address and usable once, so a code posted on a coupon site is worthless to anybody else.
* Day and Month Only: The birthday field never asks for the year, so your store never learns a customer’s age and never has to hold it. It is a smaller question to answer and a smaller duty of care to carry.
* NeoPlugin Ecosystem: Built to work seamlessly alongside NeoGrow for a complete 365-day loyalty strategy.

Frequently asked questions
When is the birthday email sent?
Seven days before the birthday, not on the day itself. That gives the customer time to choose, and — if you sell physical goods — time for the parcel to actually arrive before the day. The coupon then expires 14 days after it was issued by default, which you can change, so the deadline lands about a week after the birthday.
Where are birth dates collected?
On the My Account page, the WordPress registration form and the classic checkout, with no setup required. For the block-based Cart & Checkout, add the [birthday_bash_checkout_input] shortcode where you want the fields to appear. The [birthday_bash_form] shortcode places the full form anywhere else on your site.
Does it work with the WooCommerce Cart and Checkout Blocks?
Yes, with one step. Block checkout does not fire the hooks the classic checkout does, so the fields are added by placing the [birthday_bash_checkout_input] shortcode in your block checkout. Once it is there, the birth date saves through the Store API exactly as it does on the classic checkout.
Does the plugin ask for the customer’s year of birth?
No. It stores the day and the month only. Your store never learns anyone’s age, because it never asks — which is all a birthday coupon has ever needed, and one less piece of personal data for you to justify holding.
Can I make the birthday field required?
Yes. The field can be set to required or optional, and the setting applies wherever the form appears.
Can I customize the birthday email?
Yes. Upload your logo and write your own subject, greeting and message. A Live Email Preview shows exactly what the customer will receive before anything is sent. The email uses WooCommerce’s standard layout, so it inherits your store’s email styling.
Can a customer receive more than one coupon a year?
No. One coupon per customer per year, tracked per year, so nobody is issued two and nobody is missed. A duplicate check also runs before issuing, so an active unused birthday coupon is never replaced with a second one.
Where can I see which coupons have been issued?
The Coupon Logs tab lists every coupon: who received it, when it was generated, when it expires, and whether it has been redeemed against an order.
Will this plugin slow down my store?
No. The daily check runs in bounded batches through Action Scheduler rather than walking every customer in one pass, so a large customer list cannot time it out. Front-end styles load only on pages that actually show the birthday form.
Is it compatible with WooCommerce HPOS?
Yes. The plugin declares compatibility with High-Performance Order Storage.
How does NeoLite compare to all-in-one automation suites?
All-in-one tools are good at complex multi-step workflows and carry the weight to match. NeoLite is a Micro-Satellite: it does one job, needs no workflow configuration, and requires no parent plugin beyond WooCommerce itself.
Can I use this with NeoGrow?
Yes. Birthday Bash handles the one big day; NeoGrow handles the other 364. They work together with no setup, and neither requires the other.
Changelog
Important email fixes: the Enable/Disable switch now works, plain-text stores no longer send an empty message, and birthday emails now use your store's standard email layout — so this release changes how they look.
1.3.3
- Fix: Birthday coupons are no longer created for customer accounts that have been deleted. If an account was removed between the daily check starting and that customer’s coupon being generated, a coupon was still created — but with its email restriction silently dropped, so a discount meant for one person became usable by anyone holding the code, and it was never sent to anybody. Those coupons also left stray rows in the Coupon Logs. The deleted account is now passed over cleanly and no coupon, log row or email is produced.
- Docs: Corrected the plugin description and FAQ. Birth dates are collected on the My Account page, the WordPress registration form and the classic checkout; on the block-based Cart & Checkout the
[birthday_bash_checkout_input]shortcode places the fields. The previous wording implied the block checkout was covered automatically, which it is not. - Docs: Rewrote the FAQ so every question renders properly on WordPress.org, removed duplicated entries, and added answers on send timing, coupon expiry, one-coupon-per-year and what birthday data is stored.
1.3.2
- Fix: Deleting the plugin and later reinstalling it now recreates the coupon-log table. Uninstall previously left an internal schema-version marker behind, so a reinstall skipped the table setup and the Coupon Logs tab stayed permanently empty.
- Fix: Deleting the plugin now also removes any pending batch actions from Action Scheduler. Previously a queued batch could be left behind pointing at a plugin that no longer exists.
- Enhancement: The settings sidebar now links to the official documentation, the support forum and the review page, so help is in reach without leaving the screen.
- Enhancement: A “Useful Free Plugins” tab links to the author’s other free plugins on WordPress.org. It is only shown to administrators who can install plugins.
1.3.1
- Fix: A percentage birthday coupon can no longer be set above 100%. Entering a higher figure now saves as 100% and tells you why. Previously any number was accepted, so a coupon set to, say, 500% would discount several times the value of the basket.
- Fix: If your store already had a percentage above 100% saved, new birthday coupons are capped at 100% straight away — you do not need to open the settings screen for the cap to apply. Your saved figure is left alone so you can see what it was.
- Fixed-amount coupons are unaffected: they have no ceiling and never did.
1.3.0
- Fix: The “Enable this email notification” switch under WooCommerce → Settings → Emails → Birthday Coupon now actually works. Previously the birthday email was sent regardless of that setting, and no coupon is now issued while the notification is switched off.
- Fix: Birthday emails are now wrapped in WooCommerce’s standard email layout. They previously shipped a fragment with no header, so the message text inherited none of your store’s email fonts, colours or width, and the closing markup did not match anything.
- Fix: Added the missing plain-text template. Stores with the email type set to Plain text or Multipart were sending an empty message, so the coupon code never reached the customer.
- Fix: The email preview on WooCommerce → Settings → Emails now shows a sample name, coupon code and expiry date instead of a blank message.
- Enhancement: The email now respects the email type, Cc, Bcc and Reply-to settings WooCommerce offers for it, renders in the store language, and is recorded correctly in WooCommerce’s email log.
- Enhancement: A logo set on the plugin’s Email tab is now used as the email header image, so it appears above the heading like every other WooCommerce email.
- Compatibility: Tested with WordPress 7.1 and WooCommerce 11.
1.2.0
- Reliability: The daily birthday check now processes customers in bounded batches via Action Scheduler, so large stores no longer risk timeouts or memory exhaustion.
- New: Coupon redemptions are now recorded — the admin Coupon Logs show the redeemed date and linked order, with pagination for long lists.
- Fix: Uninstall now removes every option, the coupons table, generated coupons and scheduled tasks, across all sites on multisite.
- Fix: Activating the plugin before WooCommerce no longer leaves it half-installed; setup completes automatically once WooCommerce is active.
- Performance: Front-end styles now load only on pages that show the birthday form instead of site-wide.
- Internationalization: Added a translation template, text-domain loading and script translations; removed hard-coded English strings from admin scripts.
- Maintenance: Added coding-standard and static-analysis tooling, a
.distignore-driven build, and removed unused code.
1.1.4
- Security: Removed a debug log that recorded checkout details to a file inside the plugin folder. The file is deleted on update. If your site was affected, also delete
wp-content/plugins/birthday-bash/bb_checkout_debug.logif it remains. - Maintenance: Removed unused internal code and tightened the release build so development files are never packaged.
