About SmartPay Payments for WooCommerce
From the official readme · v1.2.1Description
SmartPay Payments connects your WooCommerce store to the SmartPay.co.il payment gateway. Customers pay at checkout with the payment method of their choice, and every transaction is processed and recorded by SmartPay.
The plugin works with both the classic checkout and the WooCommerce Blocks checkout.
Payment methods
- Credit card – on the SmartPay hosted payment page (iframe) or with embedded hosted fields directly in your checkout. Card data never touches your server.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay digital wallets.
- Bit – the Israeli instant-payment app.
- Multipass – stored-value vouchers. A customer can redeem one or more vouchers and complete the remaining amount by credit card. Vouchers on orders left unpaid are released automatically.
Store management
- Authorize-and-capture or immediate charge, selected per store.
- Refunds and voids from the WooCommerce order screen, including partial refunds of individual Multipass vouchers.
- WooCommerce Subscriptions support: renewals are charged with a saved payment token.
- Payment method icons on checkout, a sandbox mode for testing, and a request log in the admin area.
- Works together with the separate SmartPay Invoices for WooCommerce plugin, which issues tax documents for paid orders.
Requirements
A SmartPay.co.il merchant account with API credentials (API key and API secret). Multipass, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Bit must be enabled on your SmartPay terminal.
External services
This plugin sends checkout and order data to the SmartPay.co.il payment gateway in order to process payments, refunds and voucher redemptions. Depending on the operation mode selected in the settings (production or sandbox), requests go to:
- https://api.protected-payment.com/ (production)
- https://devapi.smartpay.co.il/ (sandbox)
The hosted payment page and hosted fields are served from SmartPay servers. The hosted fields script is loaded on the checkout page from https://app13.smartpay.co.il/ only when the embedded card form is enabled. Data sent includes the order amount, currency, order number, customer billing and shipping details, and, for Multipass, the voucher card number entered by the customer.

Frequently asked questions
How do I obtain SmartPay.co.il API credentials?
Log in to your SmartPay dashboard and open the terminal settings, or contact SmartPay.co.il support.
Does the plugin store card numbers?
No. Card details are entered on the SmartPay hosted page or in hosted fields served by SmartPay, and are never sent to or stored on your WordPress site. Subscription renewals use an opaque payment token issued by SmartPay.
Which currencies are supported?
Credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Bit follow your SmartPay terminal configuration. Multipass vouchers are available for orders in Israeli shekels (ILS) only.
Is the plugin compatible with the WooCommerce Blocks checkout?
Yes. The plugin registers its payment methods for the Blocks checkout as well as the classic checkout.
I installed SmartPay Payments from a zip file in a smartpay-payments folder. How do I switch to this version?
Install and activate this plugin, then deactivate the old SmartPay Payments copy on the Plugins screen. While both copies are installed, this one stays paused and shows a notice. After the old copy is deactivated, your payment settings are carried over, and orders, subscriptions and saved cards are updated in the background. You can then delete the old copy.
Is the plugin compatible with the latest version of WooCommerce?
Yes. The plugin is updated regularly to stay compatible with current WooCommerce releases.
Changelog
1.2.1
- Security: request data read from the gateway callbacks, the return URL and the admin order screen is now sanitized at every nesting level.
- Security: the SmartPay log screen builds its queries with prepared statements, only sorts by its own columns, escapes every value it prints, and the Clear Log button is protected by a nonce and requires the Manage WooCommerce capability.
- The gateway title and description on the settings and checkout pages are escaped instead of being passed to a translation function.
1.2.0
- Multipass stored-value vouchers: pay with one or more vouchers and complete the remaining amount by credit card. ILS orders only. Voucher card numbers are held encrypted in the session until the order is placed and are masked in all logs.
- Multipass order management: a voucher table on the order screen with partial refunds and cancellation per voucher, bulk void from the orders list, discount cards recorded as their own order line, and automatic release of vouchers on orders left unpaid.
- Embedded hosted fields: take card payments directly in the checkout form, as an alternative to the hosted payment page.
- Payment method icons on checkout.
- Friendlier messages for shoppers when the payment service cannot be reached, with the technical detail kept in order notes.
- The transaction method and source are now sent to and saved from SmartPay.
- Fixed repeated capture attempts on the same transaction.
- Card details on order payments: the card approval number is saved with the order, and split Multipass payments report each payment’s last 4 digits, brand, approval number and date, so SmartPay Invoices can print them on the receipt.
- Hebrew translations.
- Moving from the SmartPay Payments copy distributed in a smartpay-payments folder: settings, orders, subscriptions and saved cards are carried over after that copy is deactivated.
- The plugin no longer runs its own update check or turns on automatic updates. Updates come through WordPress.org as for any other plugin.
1.0.30
- allow=”payment” attribute added to the payment iframe.
1.0.29
- Phone number sanitization.
1.0.27
- Support for Bit (via Grow and via UPay), Apple Pay and Google Pay.
1.0.26
- Orders sync.
- Bug fixes.
