About SitePublisher AI

From the official readme · v2.0.7

Description

SitePublisher AI helps administrators prepare articles and images, review the result and save a draft or publish on the WordPress website where the plugin is installed.

You need your own OpenAI API account and API key for AI generation. OpenAI bills API usage separately. SitePublisher AI Free requires no SitePublisher account, subscription or commercial license key.

Features

  • Single Article creation from a topic, keywords and optional trusted source text.
  • A background generation queue with retry and review controls.
  • AI featured images or an existing image from your Media Library.
  • Local website writing preferences: country, languages, tone, audience, reading level and author.
  • Editable article length, headings, FAQ and call-to-action defaults.
  • Global prompts and a prompt tester.
  • Manual primary and secondary keyword links.
  • Preview and edit SEO metadata for posts and pages, with optional AI suggestions.
  • Metadata integration with Yoast SEO, Rank Math and All in One SEO, or the included fallback.
  • Review before saving a draft or publishing to this website.

Generated content may contain mistakes. Review facts, links, image rights and editorial suitability before publishing. Quality checks are writing aids and do not guarantee accuracy or search rankings.

Bulk publishing, remote website management and client reporting are provided by the separate SitePublisher AI Pro plugin. Their implementations are not included in this package. Learn more at https://sitepublisher.ai/pricing/.

External services

OpenAI

AI generation uses https://api.openai.com/v1/responses and https://api.openai.com/v1/images/generations. Requests are made after an administrator configures an API key and explicitly requests an AI action. An article queued by the administrator may be processed later by WP-Cron, including retries for temporary errors.

The API key is sent to OpenAI for authentication. Depending on the action, the request includes the topic, keywords, manually provided URLs, article requirements, writing profile (including author and audience), prompts and trusted source text. Metadata suggestions include selected post IDs, titles and limited content excerpts. Image generation sends a text prompt. Generated text, images and usage information return to your WordPress installation. The plugin does not send your Media Library image files to OpenAI.

Text requests set store=false for the Responses API. OpenAI’s own data handling and retention policies still apply. API availability, model access and usage charges depend on your OpenAI account.

Optional SitePublisher installation reporting

Reporting is off by default. Under Platform Settings > Updates & Privacy an administrator may separately opt in to reporting that the installation is active. It is not required to use the plugin.

When enabled, the plugin sends a random installation token, plugin version, build and active/inactive status to https://sitepublisher.ai/wp-json/sitepublisher-distribution/v1/installation, at most once per day while active. It does not send the site URL, email, passwords, OpenAI key, article content or visitor data. The receiving server sees the connection IP address and may retain it in hosting logs. The reporting service uses a short-lived, daily salted IP hash for rate limiting.

The service stores a hash of the random installation token, version, build and activity times. Activity records expire 90 days after the last report. On opt-out, reporting stops immediately and deletion is requested. A token-hash revocation marker may remain for up to 90 days to reject delayed reports. If deletion cannot be confirmed, the previous record expires. Deactivation attempts to report inactive, disables reporting locally and clears its schedule. Reporting must be enabled again after reactivation. A local URL fingerprint prevents a cloned site from reusing a reporting token; that fingerprint is not transmitted.

Privacy

The OpenAI API key is encrypted in the WordPress database using authenticated encryption tied to WordPress security keys. A change to those security keys may require entering the API key again. The key is never sent to SitePublisher AI.

Article briefs, source text, generated content, profiles, settings and usage records are stored locally as needed for the requested workflows. Queued content remains in the local database until removed through the queue controls. Diagnostic logs are stored in a private database option, limited to 500 entries. Entries older than 14 days are discarded when logs are read or written. Sensitive credential fields are redacted. Logs are displayed only to administrators and are not sent to SitePublisher AI.

Installation reporting and the optional public footer credit are separate, off-by-default choices. The credit links to https://sitepublisher.ai/ and is not inserted into article content. Disable it to remove it from the footer.

This WordPress.org package has no external plugin updater. Plugin updates use WordPress’s standard directory update system. The older direct-download update preference is not used by this edition.

Deactivation stops plugin cron jobs and disables optional reporting. Deactivation and deletion do not automatically erase generated posts, media, settings, stored keys or plugin records. Back up and remove data intentionally if permanently retiring the plugin; do not delete data when merely switching editions.

Source and licenses

The package contains readable PHP, JavaScript and CSS source. No build step or remote executable code is required.

Plugin code: GPLv2 or later; see LICENSE.txt.
The country and language catalog includes data derived from Unicode CLDR; see src/Profiles/TerritoryLanguageCatalog.php and licenses/UNICODE-LICENSE.txt for attribution and the Unicode License V3.

Installation

  1. Install SitePublisher AI through Plugins, or upload the ZIP using Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin.
  2. Activate the plugin.
  3. Open SitePublisher AI > Platform Settings > OpenAI API.
  4. Read the external-service information and enter your own OpenAI API key. Use Preview Key Change, then Save Encrypted Key.
  5. Open Website Profile and set the writing preferences for this website.
  6. Open Single Article, prepare a brief and add it to the work queue.
  7. Review the generated article and choose Save draft or Publish now.

Requirements: WordPress 6.5 or newer; PHP 8.2 or newer with OpenSSL, mbstring and DOM extensions. Image processing uses the image editor supplied by WordPress. Generation runs through WP-Cron, which must be enabled or triggered by your hosting scheduler.

Moving from the direct-download Free package

Back up your website first. Deactivate the older SitePublisher AI package (marketing-hub-2), then install and activate this package (sitepublisher-ai). Activate only one edition at a time.

Version 2.0.5 upgrades historical mh2_ identifiers to the siteai_ prefix. Settings and encrypted keys are copied without overwriting existing new settings. Local profiles, prompts, usage and queue records retain their IDs; their private post types and metadata are upgraded. Published posts and Media Library content retain their IDs and content. This is a one-way storage upgrade: restore your backup before returning to a previous edition. The old edition will not read the new private post types or receive later setting changes.

The upgrade processes bounded batches only during administrator or WP-CLI requests. If an upgrade notice appears, use Continue upgrade until it finishes. Article operations and reporting remain paused while upgrading. Old remote-site and bulk queue entries are retained but cannot execute in this edition.

Frequently asked questions

Is the plugin free?

Yes. All features included in this package are available without a SitePublisher license or time limit. OpenAI bills API usage separately.

Can it publish to another website?

This package publishes to the current WordPress installation. The separate Pro plugin provides remote website and bulk workflows.

Does it publish automatically?

No. Queued articles are generated in the background, then remain available for review. An administrator chooses whether to save a draft or publish.

Why is my job still waiting?

Background processing requires WP-Cron or a server-side scheduler that runs WordPress cron. Check the queue status, the Health tab and the Logs tab. API failures may also depend on your OpenAI account or model access.

Can I use an existing featured image?

Yes. Choose an image from the WordPress Media Library. Selecting an existing image does not call the OpenAI image API.

Where can I get help?

Visit https://sitepublisher.ai/documentation/ or email clients@sitepublisher.ai.

Changelog

Keyword links now appear on natural phrases in the article body, without added reading references. Missing requested keywords require review before publication.

2.0.7

  • Following user feedback, keyword links now use existing, naturally written phrases in the article body, choosing the occurrence closest to the middle.
  • Removed automatic “Read also”, “Read here” and similar link-only references in every language. An existing phrase outside the former middle zone is now used instead of adding extra text.
  • Strengthened writing instructions so primary and secondary keywords are integrated into flowing, relevant body sentences.
  • Publication now reports a missing requested keyword for review instead of inserting an artificial reference or silently omitting its link.
  • Existing published articles are not changed automatically.

2.0.6

  • Following user requests for the same flexibility as Pro, Single Article now offers Tone, Audience and Reading level dropdowns. Choose Custom for this article to adjust these settings for each article, or keep the website or platform defaults. Saved website settings remain unchanged.
  • Following user requests to match the Pro version, Primary and Secondary keyword links are now placed more naturally around the middle of the article instead of the opening lines.
  • Guide AI generation to include the supplied link phrases naturally in the middle third of the article.
  • Preserve each approved destination and avoid duplicate keyword links. If no suitable middle occurrence exists, add a short related-reading reference near the middle.
  • Existing published articles are not changed automatically. Writing style dropdowns now offer optional per-article overrides.

2.0.5

  • Load Prompt Manager CSS through the WordPress enqueue system.
  • Sanitize HTTP inputs by type before passing them to application services.
  • Adopt siteai_ names for hooks, AJAX actions, constants, storage, assets and browser identifiers.
  • Add a bounded, resumable storage upgrade with encrypted-key and record preservation.
  • Keep the documented direct OpenAI integration for WordPress 6.5 and newer.

2.0.4

  • Prepare a separate WordPress.org distribution package with the sitepublisher-ai directory and text domain.
  • Remove the direct-download updater and the bundled Pro implementations.
  • Retain local article, image, profile, prompt and metadata workflows and existing storage identifiers.
  • Move diagnostic logs from the plugin directory to bounded private database storage.
  • Improve input validation, translation handling and publication capability checks.
  • Document service requests, optional reporting, data retention and switching from the older package.

2.0.3

  • Previous direct-download Free release (build 0067R).
