About NudgeSells
From the official readme · v1.0.0Description
Every store has products that belong together. The water filter the espresso machine needs. The lens that fits the camera. The bigger model that is worth the extra money. Customers want them, but they shouldn’t have to go looking for them.
NudgeSells shows the right products at the right moment: on the product page, right above the Add to cart button, ready to add in one click.
Recommendations your customers trust
Generic “you may also like” blocks guess. NudgeSells knows. You tell it what is true about your products, in plain sentences: “When a customer views Espresso Machine, recommend Water Filter as Required.” NudgeSells does the rest: it picks what to show for every product, leaves out what doesn’t fit, and explains why.
- Never recommend the wrong thing. Mark products as incompatible or already included, and they are never suggested together.
- The right color, automatically (Pro). Viewing the green kettle? Only green accessories show, with green already selected.
- Already in the cart? Not shown again.
- Your WooCommerce cross-sells and upsells count too, so you start with what you already have.
Six relationships that say what a product is for
Every rule gives a relationship a meaning, so NudgeSells knows where a product belongs, how to present it and what to say about it. You don’t need to set up every type: a few rules for your best sellers already go a long way.
- Required: what the product needs to work, like the water filter for an espresso machine. Pre-selected in Complete their setup, marked “Needed”, and in the “Don’t forget” reminder when it’s missing from the cart.
- Compatible: products that work with it, like a lens that fits the camera. Shown as add-ons with a “Compatible” badge, so customers buy with confidence.
- Accessory: nice-to-have extras, like a knock box or a camera bag. The easy add-ons that grow the order.
- Consumable: what gets used up and bought again, like cleaning tablets, ink or filters. Marked “Refill”, and in the “Don’t forget” reminder when it’s missing from the cart.
- Upgrade: the better version a customer may prefer instead. Shown as a clear choice in Upgrade their choice, with your reasons why, one per line.
- Alternative: a comparable option in the same role, like another model in the range, for customers who are still comparing.
Two more keep recommendations right: Included (already in the box) and Incompatible (doesn’t work with it) are never recommended together. The badge texts can be changed in the settings.
Three ways to help a customer decide
- Recommend: a short list of accessories that go with the product.
- Complete their setup: pick a version, get everything it needs pre-selected, then the extras. The list follows the version the customer picks.
- Upgrade their choice: a clear choice between this product and a better one, with the reasons why.
Bigger orders, without the pushy tricks
No popups, no countdown banners on every page, no exit-intent. Just useful suggestions that make the order complete:
- Discounts per product, or a bundle discount for taking the full set, with a progress bar that shows how close the customer is.
- A “Don’t forget” reminder in the cart for the required items and refills a customer is about to miss.
- One click adds the product, its add-ons and the upgrade to the cart together.
Looks like it belongs in your store
NudgeSells uses WooCommerce’s own images, prices and links, follows your theme’s fonts, and comes in list, card and dropdown layouts. Pick your colors, corners and badges, or switch NudgeSells’ styles off and let your theme take over. Place it automatically, or exactly where you want it with a block or shortcode.
Know what works
See what your recommendations earned, and get a short list of what to do next: which best sellers still need rules, and which offers aren’t being shown. Test a product shows exactly what a product page displays and why, including what was left out.
Ready for search engines and AI shopping assistants
Your product relationships are added to your product pages’ structured data, so search engines understand which products are accessories, refills or alternatives. A read-only REST API makes the same knowledge available to your own search, apps and AI assistants.
NudgeSells Pro: the intelligence runs itself
Pro learns from your store, so recommendations keep getting better without extra work: it finds what customers buy together, ranks what converts, suggests rules for best sellers you haven’t covered yet, and lets you test offers against each other.

Frequently asked questions
Does NudgeSells require WooCommerce?
Yes. WooCommerce must be installed and activated.
Can I recommend variable products?
Yes. Both simple and variable WooCommerce products are supported.
Does NudgeSells replace the WooCommerce related products section?
No. NudgeSells shows its recommendations right above the Add to cart button so customers can add them with one click. Your theme’s related products section stays as it is.
Do I have to set up relationships for every product?
No. One rule can cover several products at once (with Pro, “Match attributes” saves separate rules per color or size), and Analytics points you to the best sellers that still need rules. NudgeSells also uses your existing WooCommerce cross-sells and upsells, and Pro adds rules for whole categories and learns from your orders.
Can other tools read my product relationships?
Yes, read-only. Search engines read them from the product page’s structured data (schema.org isAccessoryOrSparePartFor, isConsumableFor, isOftenBoughtWith, isRelatedTo and isSimilarTo). Your own search, apps or AI assistants can use the REST API: GET /wp-json/nudgesells/v1/products/{id}/relationships: typed relationships with price, stock and category. Filter with types, min_price, max_price, in_stock, source=merchant and limit; pass variation for color/size-matched results and cart to get what that cart is still missing. GET /wp-json/nudgesells/v1/cart/missing?products=12,34: the required…
Can my theme style the recommendations?
Yes. Product images, prices and links come from WooCommerce itself (WC_Product::get_image(), wc_format_sale_price(), the price suffix and permalinks), so WooCommerce’s and your theme’s filters for those apply. The prices can also be changed with the nudgesells_product_price_html filter, and the whole widget template can be overridden in your theme (copy it to your-theme/nudgesells/nudgesells-public-display.php). To style everything with your theme, turn off Settings → Branding → NudgeSells styles (or use the nudgesells_load_styles filter).
Can I choose where the recommendations appear?
Yes. By default they show above the Add to cart button. In a block theme, add the “NudgeSells recommendations” block to the single product template (Appearance → Editor); with a page builder, use the [nudgesells] shortcode. When the page has the block or shortcode, the widget only shows there. Settings → Presentation → Placement can also turn the automatic spot off.
Why isn’t a product showing up?
Rules → Test a product shows what a product page displays, which offer it uses and why, and every product that was left out with the reason (out of stock, already in the cart, a different color, ranked below the maximum, and so on).
Does NudgeSells add popups, exit-intent or email features?
No, on purpose. NudgeSells does one thing: recommend the right products at the right moment.
Can I create bundles?
Recommendations, item discounts and the bundle discount (for selecting every recommended product) are free. Tiered quantity discounts are part of Pro.
Does it support WooCommerce Subscriptions?
Yes. Subscription products can be recommended, added and upgraded like any other product, with their billing terms shown next to the price.
Does it work with HPOS?
Yes.
Does it support WPML?
Yes.
Does it support Polylang?
Yes.
Can I customize the appearance?
Totally! You can customize colors, borders, headings, icons, images, layouts, and more. The font will be inherited from your active theme.
Does it support multiple currencies?
Yes.
