Indesign Text Marquee is a text scrolling plugin for WordPress. It runs on requestAnimationFrame, keeps a seamless loop on all screen sizes, and pauses itself when the marquee is off screen to save CPU and battery.
Version 2.0 is a full rewrite of the admin experience. You now get 32 pre made templates, a tabbed settings panel, and a live preview that shows your own text in every template without having to save the marquee first.
What you can build
News tickers, sale bars, announcement strips, hero display text, footer credits, vertical stock tickers, podcast promos, wedding banners, seasonal banners, and more. Every template can be fine tuned after you apply it.

External Services
This plugin optionally connects to the Google Fonts API (fonts.googleapis.com) to load display fonts on the frontend. The request is only made when a non default font family is selected in the marquee settings. No personal data is sent. Only the selected font family and weight appear in the request URL.

Installation
- Upload the
indesign-text-marqueefolder to/wp-content/plugins/. - Activate the plugin from the Plugins menu.
- Go to Indesign Text Marquee > Add New.
- Add a few items (Text plus Link,
#works fine for no link). - Open the Templates tab, click any card to apply that style.
- Save the marquee.
- Copy the shortcode from the Shortcode box and paste it into any page, post, or block editor.

How do I add a marquee to a page?
Save the marquee, then paste the shortcode from the Shortcode box (right sidebar) into any page, post, block, or widget. It looks like [indesign_text_marquee id="5"].
Can I have more than one marquee on a page?
Yes. Each marquee has its own ID. Paste as many shortcodes as you want.
How do I copy the shortcode?
Click the shortcode box. It selects and copies to your clipboard in one click.
How many templates are included?
News, e-commerce, tech, fashion, luxury, sports, gaming, retro, vertical, seasonal, and more. Popular ones show first.
Do the template previews use my own text?
Yes. Type in the Items box and every template preview updates instantly. No save needed.
Will my site look exactly like the template I picked?
Yes. Applying a template sets every setting to match the preview. Save the marquee and the frontend will match.
Can I reorder items?
Yes. Drag the handle on the left of any item row to reorder. A red line shows where it will drop.
Can I duplicate a marquee?
Yes. Hover the marquee in the list table and click Duplicate.
Can I add links to items?
Yes. Every item has a Link field. Set the link to open in the same tab or a new tab under Separator and Links.
Can I scroll vertically?
Yes. Motion tab ā Scrolling Direction ā TOP or BOTTOM. Or start from the Vertical Down or Vertical Up template.
Can I tilt the marquee?
Yes. Container tab ā Tilt Angle (between -45 and 45 degrees).
Can I fade the edges?
Yes. Container tab ā Fade Edges ON, then set the Fade Width.
How do I make it full window width?
Container tab ā Breakout Mode ā FULL WINDOW.
Can I use custom fonts?
Yes. Pick from the Font Family dropdown (Anton, Bebas Neue, Playfair Display, and more). Pick Inherit to use your themeās font with no external request.
What about visitors who prefer reduced motion?
The marquee pauses for them by default. Turn this off in the Motion tab if you need it to always run.
Does it slow down my site?
No. The frontend uses no jQuery. Assets load only on pages with the shortcode. IntersectionObserver pauses the animation when it is scrolled out of view.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. Separate font sizes for Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile are in the Typography tab.
Can I duplicate an existing marquee?
Yes. Hover the marquee in the list table and click Duplicate. All items and settings are copied to a new draft.
