About Ecreate Discount Price for WooCommerce
From the official readme · v1.1.0Description
WooCommerce shows the old price next to the sale price, but it never tells the customer what they have saved in total. That figure is the one that closes the sale, and it is the one missing from the checkout.
Ecreate Discount Price adds it. A single row under the totals, on the cart and on the checkout, in your own wording:
You saved $80.00
It counts the difference between the old price and the sale price on every item in the basket, and, if you want, the coupons the customer has used as well.
Works on the blocks and on the classic pages
WooCommerce now uses the Cart and Checkout blocks by default, and most plugins written for the old shortcode pages quietly do nothing there. This one adds the saving to both: the figure is worked out in PHP and handed to the blocks through the Store API, so the number is always the one your shop calculated.
On the classic shortcode pages it also puts the old price beside the sale price in the price column and the line total, which those pages do not do on their own.
It carries on after the sale
The saving is written onto the order when it is placed, then shown again on the confirmation page, under My Account and in the order email. Because it is stored rather than worked out again later, it still reads correctly months afterwards, when the sale has long ended and the prices have changed.
What you can change
- The wording, such as “You saved”, “Your discount” or “Total savings”, with separate wording for the order.
- Whether it appears on the cart, the checkout, or both.
- A percentage as well as the amount, so it reads “$80.00 (40%)”.
- A smallest saving worth mentioning, so a few pence is not advertised.
- Whether coupons count towards the saving, or only sale prices.
- A notice across the top of the cart, for shops that want it noticed rather than tucked into the totals.
- The saving in the cart drawer, under the classic mini cart.
- On the order confirmation, under My Account and in the customer email.
- On classic pages, whether the old price is shown in the price column and the line total.
- Anywhere at all with the
[ecdrp_saved]shortcode, with your own wording.
Built properly
- No settings to wrestle with: switch it on and the row appears.
- Nothing is stored about your customers, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Compatible with High Performance Order Storage and the Cart and Checkout blocks.
- The saving can be changed by other code through the
ecdrp_total_savedfilter.
Installation
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins, then Add New, and search for Ecreate Discount Price.

Frequently asked questions
How do I show how much a customer saved in WooCommerce?
Activate the plugin. A “You saved” row appears under the totals on the cart and the checkout, with the total discount across everything in the basket. You can change the wording under WooCommerce, then Discount Price.
Does it work with the Cart and Checkout blocks?
Yes. The saving is added to both the blocks and the old shortcode pages. The figure comes from the Store API, so it matches what your shop charges.
Does the saving include coupons?
That is your choice. By default a coupon counts towards the saving, so a customer who used a code sees the full amount they saved. You can switch it to sale prices only.
Why does my cart already show the old price, but no total saving?
WooCommerce shows the old price per item in the blocks, and a “Save” badge beside it, but it does not add up the saving across the basket. That total is what this plugin adds.
Does the customer see the saving after they have paid?
Yes, if you want them to. The saving appears on the order confirmation, under My Account and in the order email. It is saved onto the order at the moment of purchase, so it stays right even after the sale ends.
Can I show the saving as a percentage?
Yes. Switch on the percentage and the row reads “You saved $80.00 (40%)”. The percentage is worked out against what the basket would have cost at the old prices.
Can I put the saving somewhere else on my site?
Use the [ecdrp_saved] shortcode. It prints the current saving, and takes your own wording, for example [ecdrp_saved label="Total savings"].
Does it work with variable products and sale schedules?
Yes. The saving uses the price WooCommerce is charging for each item, so scheduled sales, variable products and prices set by other plugins are all counted correctly.
Does it slow down my shop?
No. The saving is worked out from the cart that WooCommerce has already loaded, with no extra database queries, and the script on the blocks only renders the row.
Changelog
Works with the Cart and Checkout blocks, adds a total saving row, and fixes a security problem in the settings screen. Your settings are kept.
1.1.0
- Added support for the WooCommerce Cart and Checkout blocks, which earlier versions did not show anything on.
- The saving now carries on to the order confirmation, My Account and the customer email, stored on the order so it stays accurate.
- Added an optional percentage, a smallest saving worth showing, a cart notice, the classic mini cart, and the [ecdrp_saved] shortcode.
- Added a total saving row, with your own wording, and the choice of whether coupons count towards it.
- Settings are now saved through a form that checks both the nonce and the user’s capability. The previous version saved over AJAX without either, so any signed in user could change them.
- Settings moved under the WooCommerce menu, and settings from version 1.0.0 are carried over automatically.
- Rewritten for current WooCommerce: High Performance Order Storage, the Cart and Checkout blocks, and the modern cart and price functions.
- Renamed, since the previous name began with another company’s trademark.
- Requires PHP 7.2 and WordPress 5.9.
1.0.0
- First version.
