About Code Capsules Performance Monitor
From the official readme · v0.1.0Description
Ever wondered why your WordPress site slows down under traffic, and whether it’s your plugins, your theme, or your host running out of room? This plugin answers that from inside your own wp-admin: how many PHP workers are busy right now, how long pages actually take to build, and whether visitors are starting to queue — the same kind of PHP-FPM and web server diagnostics a hosting engineer would normally have to SSH in to check.
Full live data requires a Code Capsules WordPress Capsule. On any other host, the plugin shows a clear notice instead of guessing or showing fake data — see the FAQ below for why, and what it looks like once you’re live.
It works by reading directly from the internal performance endpoints already built into the Code Capsules WordPress hosting image (PHP-FPM’s status page and nginx’s connection status). Those endpoints are bound to the capsule’s own loopback interface and are not reachable from the public internet — this plugin can read them only because it runs as PHP inside that same container. It does not affect page load performance for your visitors and does not touch the public request path.
What you get:
- A live health summary — is your site keeping up, or under pressure?
- Worker pool status: how many PHP workers are busy right now, out of how many available
- Page build time, with history across 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 week, and 2 weeks
- A plain-language “what this means” explanation of your current numbers — no Prometheus/Grafana experience required
- Per-worker detail for spotting a worker stuck on a slow plugin or theme
A note on history: the 1 week / 2 week charts are built from samples taken roughly every minute via WP-Cron. If WP-Cron isn’t running reliably on your site (for example, if you’ve disabled it site-wide with no alternative trigger configured), history will have gaps — the chart tells you when this is happening rather than silently showing incomplete data as if it were complete.
Why is this a WordPress hosting monitor plugin instead of a generic one?
Most “site health” plugins can only measure what PHP itself can see — page generation time from the inside. They can’t tell you how many workers are free, whether the web server has visitors queued, or how close you are to your hosting plan’s ceiling, because that data lives outside PHP entirely, in the web server and process manager. This plugin can show it because Code Capsules deliberately exposes it, safely, from inside your own container.
Installation

Frequently asked questions
Does this plugin send any data externally?
No. Every request this plugin makes stays on the same machine — it talks only to 127.0.0.1, the capsule’s own loopback interface. Nothing is sent to Code Capsules, to this plugin’s author, or to any third party.
Does this slow my site down?
No. The plugin only runs when you’re viewing its admin page. It never runs on the public-facing pages your visitors see.
Why don’t I see any data?
Live data requires hosting on a Code Capsules WordPress Capsule using an image version that includes the internal metrics endpoints. On any other host — or an older image version — the plugin shows a notice instead of live data. This is expected and not an error.
Who can see this data?
Only users with the manage_options capability (typically site administrators). The underlying data can include recently-requested page paths, so it’s kept behind the same permission that guards the rest of wp-admin’s sensitive settings.
Does this replace the Code Capsules dashboard?
No — the Code Capsules dashboard is the primary place to manage your capsule (scaling, deploys, domains, and more). This plugin is a lightweight, in-wp-admin view of live performance data for day-to-day troubleshooting.
What is a “PHP worker” and why does the count matter?
Each PHP-FPM worker can build one page at a time. If you have 8 workers, your site can build 8 pages simultaneously — the 9th visitor waits in a queue until one frees up. Watching how many workers are busy (and for how long) is one of the earliest warning signs of a site outgrowing its hosting plan, well before visitors start seeing timeouts.
How is this different from Query Monitor or other debugging plugins?
Debugging plugins like Query Monitor show you what’s slow inside a single page load (queries, hooks, memory). This plugin shows the pool-level view across all visitors at once — worker saturation, queueing, and build-time trends over time. The two are complementary, not competing.
Can I use this on WP Engine, Kinsta, Pantheon, or my own server?
You can install it anywhere — it’s free and open source — but live data only renders on a Code Capsules WordPress Capsule, because that’s the only environment currently exposing this data safely to a plugin. Elsewhere, it shows an explanatory notice instead of live data.
